November lectures at Portland State
Monday, Nov. 15, 4:00 pm, SMU 328
Italian/Mediterranean Music: Local & Global Professor Minganti will explore the significance and impact of the globalization of music, particularly as this trend is played out in Italy through the musical works of Fabrizio De Andre', Renzo Arbote's Orchestra Italiana, Daniele Sepe, and Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio.
Tuesday, Nov. 16, 4:00 pm, SMU 338, Vanport Room
Icarus & Daedalus
Reception to follow
Le Corbusier claimed that the “airplane eye” allowed for a new way of envisioning the urban environment. Using architectural icons from 1939, the lecture explores the relationship between aerial photography and urban planning: for each pioneer sky pilot like Icarus, there's a pioneer architect like Daedalus. This lecture is dedicated to Prof. Giovanna Franci
